John Thorn Building & Carpentry is run completely by a husband and wife team. We are based in Lowestoft, ideally suited to service Suffolk & Norfolk
We are dedicated to providing a reliable and honest service with quality results. We understand how stressful renovations can be and aim to reduce the impact as much as possible by establishing a great communication link to ensure that works proceed smoothly.
Over the last 10 years, we have built up a wealth of experience in providing quality carpentry and building services to suit all budgets from fencing to top end designed and fitted kitchens.
Services
Refurbishments / Renovations
Whether you are looking for a full property refurbishment service, or property renovation service, we can carry out work to your requirements. We have in excess of 10 years experience in modernisation of older properties across Sussex & Norfolk.
Kitchen Fitting
We offer an all inclusive kitchen fitting service, from designing and planning your layout to choosing or designing your perfect kitchen space. We have historically designed and installed a bespoke fitted kitchen using beautiful reclaimed quality items. See our gallery and testimonials page for more details. We also offer both wall and floor tiling to create a beautiful finish.
Bathroom Fitting
To create a perfect space to unwind, we offer a fully inclusive bathroom fitting service. With so many options available, we can provide the fixtures and fittings or leave you to find your perfect suite. In addition, we can offer everything from an installation service, to floor and wall tiling and even offer bespoke cabinet making to maximise your storage space.
Tiling
For a professional finish, we use only the highest quality materials. Our aim is to finish your tiling to the highest standard possible and complete the transformation of your room.
Bespoke Cupboards Design and Fitting
Space is a premium for most people, our aim is to maximise storage to allow for areas where standard units just won't fit. We achieve this creating bespoke units for custom spaces or that something that's just a little bit different.
Replacement Doors
From internal to external doors, we offer a comprehensive supply and fitting service. If you would rather source your own, we are happy to quote to fit them. Alternatively, we create bespoke furniture including doors (see our gallery for a custom made stained glass bathroom door).
Plastering
From skimming walls to create a finish in which to paint to full room plastering, we offer a professional service with a high standard of workmanship.
Flooring
Our services include replacement wooden flooring both sourcing and fitting, tiled flooring and laminate flooring. We are also specialists in floor preparation to ensure a flat and smooth surface to achieve a high standard finish.
Built-In Wardrobes
A space saving option to suit the size and shape of your room, we provide a full design and fitting service for built in wardrobes.
Fencing
Fence repair or installation of new fencing. We can provide concrete gravel boards and posts, a wide range of wooden options or custom build fence and gates to fit specific spaces (see our gallery for a custom fit gate and fence area). We can also provide lockable gates and dwarf walling. In addition to this, we also offer installation of patio areas, paths, decking, shed bases and shed erection.
Fascias, Soffits and Guttering
Replacement uPVC fascias and soffits for houses, garages and porch's are the essential finishing touches to the exterior of any property and avoids the need for routine maintenance. Guttering maintenance or replacement guttering services are also available.
Call-Out Maintenance
From leaking taps to burst pipes to leaking radiators, we offer a call out service to isolate any problems.
